Your new home has a pre-installed security system
Many times after you close on a house, you’ll find that the previous owners didn’t take a smart home system. All the alarms and cameras work, are placed in the best areas, and are ready to go. In this instance, all you may have to do is to call and start a new monitoring contract. A Vivint professional will still show up to make sure there are no compatibility problems, and they could offer ideas on upgrades. It's a quick trip, and you can get your monitoring set up without paying for any new devices -- unless you add on.
The previous owners can move an existing Vivint contract to you for a nominal set-up cost to make the process easier. If the owners are moving to a condo or retirement community, transferring the home security contract may be a part of the sale.
You need to move and take your home security devices with you
You may want to bring along your old home security components with you to a new house when you move. That’s fairly simple to accomplish, as most smart devices are portable. You can remove each component by yourself or use a Vivint installer to dismantle your devices. Then an expert will put in the same features -- and any new things you need -- in the new home. Your home security contract will stay the same.
